Frequently Asked Questions
Your Hypno RESET Frequently Asked Questions
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a safe, evidence-based therapeutic approach that uses focused attention and deep relaxation to access the subconscious mind. This allows us to gently uncover and release blocks, shift unhelpful patterns, and embed new, empowering ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
Will I be in control?
Absolutely. You are always in control. You’ll remain aware and able to choose what to say or do at all times. If you are having an online session, you would be able to respond to interruptions if they were to happen. Deal with them and probably continue the session if there was time.
What does hypnosis feel like?
It varies from person to person, but most describe it as a calm, peaceful, and focused state, like daydreaming or being absorbed in a good book. You may feel physically relaxed, mentally clear and remember everything I said, some people remember bits of the session or experience deep relaxation. Any way that you experience hypnosis is the right way for you and that particular session.
How is this different from other therapies?
Unlike talk therapy, which works mostly on a conscious level, I work with the conscious and the subconscious, the deeper part of your mind where habits, beliefs, and emotional patterns are stored. When breakthroughs are made with the subconscious, these changes become part of your conscious level.
This allows for quicker breakthroughs, even when you’ve felt stuck for a long time.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your goals, history, and the depth of the issue—but many clients notice shifts even after one session. Typically, people begin with 3–6 sessions to allow space for lasting, layered change. We'll always tailor the pace to what feels right for you.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No. You can’t get stuck in hypnosis. Even in the deepest states, you could open your eyes or speak if you chose to. It’s a natural state, just like falling asleep or zoning out, and you’ll come out of it gently, feeling refreshed.
Is it safe for everyone?
Hypnotherapy is very safe when delivered by a trained, ethical professional. I always carry out a full consultation to ensure it’s right for you. It can be a powerful support alongside other therapeutic or medical treatments too.
Will you make me do something embarrassing?
No! That’s a myth from stage hypnosis. Clinical hypnotherapy is not about performance or entertainment. Everything we do is grounded in respect, consent, and what serves your healing and growth.
Why do you use EMDR? Do I need to have trauma for it to help?
Not at all. While EMDR is known for treating trauma, it’s just as powerful for breaking emotional loops like anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, or stuck patterns that won’t shift, even if nothing “big” happened.
It helps your brain and body process what’s stuck and release it, so you feel calmer and more free to move forward. That’s why it’s a core part of Your Hypno RESET it helps create real change, not just surface-level fixes.
I’ve done hypnotherapy before, and it didn’t last so how is this different?
That’s a question I hear often. The truth is, not all hypnotherapy is the same.
By blending clinical hypnotherapy with EMDR and practical support tools, we work with the subconscious and the body, helping changes stick at a deeper level. Plus those practical tools keep the changes happening everyday.
so we’re not just layering affirmations on top of old wounds, we’re helping you release, shit and embed your change.
