Hypnosis, the Jab & Me: What Really Worked for My Weight Loss
I want to share something personal. As a hypnotherapist, I’ve long known the power of the mind when it comes to making real, lasting change. And when I decided to lose weight, I chose to walk my talk, using self-hypnosis, mindful eating, and a healthy, balanced diet.
It worked.
I lost 1.5 stone without counting calories, over-restricting, or battling myself daily. I reduced my portions, cut out snacking, and more importantly, shifted how I thought about hunger and the huge amount of time I spent thinking about food and eating.
It was freeing.
Progress was steady but real. And I allowed life to happen too—holidays, dinners out, weekend feasts with my family. No guilt. Just a reset on Monday and keep going.
Then I Got Caught in the Jab Hype
I kept hearing how easy and effective the jab was. It was everywhere—media, conversation, even professional spaces.
So, over Christmas, I gave myself permission to “let go.”
I ate whatever I wanted, trusting the jab would fix it all.
Interestingly, some of my old cravings didn’t fully return, crisps and beer didn’t quite hit the same way. But I persevered and ate them anayway!
I was shocked by how easily the weight piled back on.
Still, I was optimistic. I thought, “Once I’m on the jab, it’ll all come off effortlessly.”
My Experience with the Jab
What I noticed first was that, yes—I didn’t feel hunger in the usual way. The urge to eat just… vanished.
But the thoughts around eating? They were still there.
“You should eat something…. its time…skipping meals isn’t healthy.”
So I did. But because I didn’t feel like cooking, I grabbed what was quick and easy: toast and jam, biscuits, junk food.
Smaller portions, yes. But more digestive issues.
And still, no dramatic weight loss like I’d expected.
So I googled: Why am I not losing weight on the jab?
By the end of each month, as I got used to the dose, I found myself hungrier again. I stayed committed, kept upping the dose, but so did the side effects.
Then came the night of vomiting. I didn’t think I’d eaten much, but I was violently ill. Pulled stomach and back muscles, days of nausea. It felt like a wake-up call.
I almost stopped altogether.
The Turning Point: Combining the Jab with Hypnosis
Then I thought, what if I used both?
What if I brought back the mindset tools, the hypnotherapy, the structure and used the jab to support, not replace that?
That changed everything.
Suddenly I was losing 2lbs a week, no calorie counting, no obsessing. I was meal prepping again, making healthier choices because they were ready.
My digestive issues disappeared. My thinking became clearer. I started eating how I did before: mindfully, joyfully, and just enough.
And I’m still on a low dose of the jab, it turns out, that’s all I need. I don’t skip meals anymore because they’re enjoyable again, and I’m back in sync with my body.
My Takeaway
The best “diet” isn’t really a diet. It’s mindset.
Yes, the jab helped reduce appetite, but it didn’t undo my thinking, habits, or emotional patterns.
Hypnotherapy did.
And together, they’ve given me the most balanced, sustainable approach I’ve ever had.
This isn’t the end of my story, it's an ongoing experiment. But one thing I know for sure: no jab or plan will work without the mind on board.
